Our story

Hi, we are Darrick and Beth Christopher from Colorado and this site chronicles our trips to get our two great kids, Sam and Sophie from their birthplace in Kazakhstan.

In 2003 we traveled to Kazakhstan to adopt our son.  Sam is a happy 2.5 year old who finds endless fascination in the alphabet, among other things.  We've been blessed beyond our wildest dreams with the gift of this happy and healthy child.  Now, we're returning to the same town where we adopted Sam.  We can't wait to meet our new daughter!

We can't say enough about our agency, World Partners Adoption. We originally chose them based on their perfect track record and unbelievable references from families across the nation. When we adopted Sam, we were so impressed with their passion and professionalism.  Everyone we met, the coordinators, the interpreters and drivers, are kind people who care so much about the children.  Check out their website at www.worldpartnersadoption.org.

Why Kazakhstan?  The Kazakhs take excellent care of their children in Baby Houses, where the ratio of caregiver to baby is 6:1.    The children are exposed to music therapy, massage therapy, and love from their caregivers.  Kazakhstan belonged to the former USSR and claimed their independence during the fall of Communism in 1991.  It is the ninth largest country in the world and is about 2 ½ times the size of Texas.

We'll be in Kazakhstan for approximately 4-5 weeks and we hope to update this journal daily.  We would love to hear from you, please feel free to contact us at beth.christopher@comcast.net.   Thanks for joining us.
